True to his registerd name, Rebel had escaped from his stall and was now harrassing some of the older race horses in the barn. The older stallion who the colt was pestering looked at Kim with a sure word 'help'. Kim gritted her teeth and grabs the nearest halter and begins to talk to Rebel.
You really are being a naughty little boy, now come here, or I may just with-hold the carrots you were going to get after your workout today.
The colt promptly and purpusly ignored her and went about his buisness, sniffing the other horses and eating scaps of hey off of the rubber mats on the floor. Kim caught up with him and wraped the lead around his neck. She put the halter on and gave him a pat. Rebel snorted, showering her with that lovely mucase hroses seem to summon up when a person is handy. She laughed, ignoring Rebel, he was one of the best she had comming this year, but he was not to friendly, he didn't much care for people. As she lead him out of the barn she watched him move, his movements came easy and smooth, with a light step of eagerness mixed in. As they approached the big stallion that was once a racer Rebel squeeled, flaging up his tail he sniffed noses with the other horse. While a groom held Rebel, Kim mounted the grey, Arthers Excaliber, Rebels older half brother. Ex didn't seem botherd by the colt, and soon Rebel got over him as well. Kim tugged him along and headed for the mountain trails just above the stables, she was going to work the colts muscles, as it was almost time to start saddling him, and only a year until he would have his first race.
The trail was smooth and well maintained, with a little slope, so the horses had to work to get up. Rebel's eyes and ears were everywhere. He was never spooked, but looked like he was thinking hard on some things, trying to make since of the deer and her fawn that were eating in a small clearing. He never flinched, just tryed to make his way towards them. Kim pulled him along, trying to keep his baby mind on the task at hand.
At a small streight away she askes the grey for a canter, pulling the colt with her. He kept up with ease, not at all minding the other horse beside him, although he did show intrest in getting ahead of him. As the flat came to an end Kim pulled them both up and made them walk a little more, Rebel's nostals flared, not from the short run, but because the trail was beging to get a little steeper than it had been. Kim decided after a quick look at him to turn around, he was sweating on his neck and chest, that was good enough for one day, he was still a baby, best not to push him to hard. In a wide spot in the trail she turned them towards home.
Rebel quickly caught on to the fact that they were going home, and the fact that it was almost dinner time. He tosses his head and began to prance beside Kim and Ex. Kim pulled him back when he tryed to jump foward and run for it. Rebel snorted in a small suprize and reared up. Realizing the danger Kim stoped Ex and let Rebel throw his little fit, then continued back to the stable, making the colt keep his head by her knee at all times, taping him with her spurr when he tryed to take a chunk out of it, he got the hint after the first three times.
